Colloquially, these three villages are also called the '3 lake towns' as the village buildings, which were located near the bank, were affected by the numerous floods of the Söse before the Söse dam was built (1928-1931). The village Lasfelde can look back onto a more than 750-year existence.

Lasfelde has its own primary school, which is also used by the children from Petershütte and Katzenstein.

At the ridge of the Kalkberg above of the present villages was the Pipins castle located, whose oldest areas were built around 500BC. In 1365 the medieval Pipins castle was destroyed in the course of a feud between Duke Albrecht of Brunswick and landgrave Friedrich of Thuringia.
