The Kornmarkt (grain market) is Osteroder's centre since the 'old times'.

After a fire raged in 1826 at the south side (post) and in 1850 at the north side of the Kornmarkt (Grain Market), some buildings were rebuild slightly to the back, so that the market place got its present size.
A dominating building at the market place is the Rinnesche House.
This building has been used among other as the tavern 'Englischer Hof ' where Heinrich Heine spend the night in 1824 during his Harz trip.
We cross the Kornmarkt until we reach the inner city ring, which encompasses the old town.
We follow the ring to the left and reach again the civic centre with Schachtrupp villa.
