The Hübichen-stone in Bad Grund

Here you see the legendary rock 'Hübichen-stone'

The 2 rock noses are elevated more than 50m high from the time of the 'Devon'.
The rock is located ca. 800m west of the Iberger stalactite cave.
The eagle on the rock has been put there in honour of emperor Wilhelm the I..

From its small accessible tip a terrific view over the mountain town Bad Grund is offered.

... myths and fairytales

The Hübichen-stone was home to dwarfs, gnomes and elves.

Their king was 'king Hübich', an old man of small statue with rough hair and a beard that reached down to his stomach.

Magic was in this beard of'king Hübich'.
He wasn't particularly friendly towards people and so everybody who tried to climb the mountain was burnt into place.

Still 'king Hübich' was some kind of patron saint for the city who helped the poor and needy.

... the Walpurgis festival

Always on April the 30th the Hübichen-stone is home to thousand of visitors who celebrate the Walpurgis festival.
